Bear Hugs for Haiti – Teddy Bear Drive
The teddy bear has become a universal symbol of love and tenderness. In an effort to transcend that message to the thousands of orphans in Haiti affected by the recent earthquake in Port au Prince, The Westchase Junior Chamber (Jaycees) has initiated “Bear Hugs for Haiti”, a teddy bear donation drive implemented throughout the month of February.
The community has been asked to donate their new, or gently used teddy bears or stuffed animals towards the cause. The Westchase Junior Chamber (Jaycees) hopes to collect 500 bears by the end of the program.
Various donations sites have been established with local businesses, churches and schools within the Westchase area, in addition to locations throughout the greater Houston area.
Donated items will be accepted thru Friday, March 12. The collected bears will then be given to I Am Change, a local non-profit organization in The Woodlands dedicated towards the care and education of orphans.
